read Mitch's story in our Fall newsletter
Streetohome's Fall 2016 newsletter is now available on-line. In this issue (http://streetohome.org/sites/default/files/Fall_2016.pdf), we focus on employment and how it can be a key pathway out of homelessness to financial and social stability.
We bring you the story of Mitch, a young man formerly living on the streets of Vancouver, who has overcome mental health challenges, and is now employed, engaged in his community, and making plans for the future.
Board member and Streetohome’s Employment Access Committee Chair, Ida Goodreau, talks about why employment is one of the four legs of a Streetohome’s stool to recovery, along with housing, health and education.
We’ve had the pleasure of meeting and partnering with a number of organizations providing training and education for those who were formerly homeless, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to introduce you to four in this issue: Knack, Squamish Trades Centre, YBEAT, and Thrive, but recognize there are many, many more organizations doing incredible work in helping individuals realize their full potential.
We hope you enjoy this issue and we’d love to hear what you think about our Fall2016 issue.
