YWCA Cause We Care House opens

YWCA Cause We Care House, which offers housing for single mothers above a full-service library, officially opened April 19th.

The project – at 720 and 730 East Hastings St. – includes 21 units in a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments and roughly 4,700 square feet of community and family program space. Total budget for the project is $28.5 million. Streetohome Foundation contributed $1 million, which was generously donated by Suzanne Bolton and Jeff Mooney in honour of Linda Mitchell.

This is the eighth supportive housing project for women and women with children that Streetohome has contributed funding to since being established in 2008. And, the first of two collaborations with the YWCA.

Congratulations to the YWCA, Vancouver Public Library and the City of Vancouver, and all contributing partners, on the opening of such an innovative project.
