Vancouver is a city that cares about solving homelessness. A survey conducted by the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness in 2012 found that homelessness was the third most important issue to residents, only behind affordable housing and transportation. From individuals to governments, companies to community partners, widespread interest to prevent and end homelessness is encouraging.
Streetohome has directly seen the impact of community support with the success of our Capital Campaign. We are particularly grateful for the support of our donors. It is because of their commitment and generosity, that Streetohome was able to raise 100 percent of our Phase I fundraising target of $26.5 million in just over two years. We have invested these funds in projects that will make a direct impact, creating new supportive housing and preventing people from losing housing they already have.
By supporting Streetohome, the corporate and philanthropic community is making a significant step forward in providing supportive housing for Vancouver’s most vulnerable citizens, and ensuring our city is one where people no longer have to sleep on the street.
